Binary number

A binary number is a number which is expressed in the base-2 numeral system. This system is the simplest kind of number system. It uses only two symbols 0 and 1. These can be used to represent all other numbers. The rightmost digit represents one, with each digit to the left doubling in value. Binary numbers can do arithmetic operations. For example addition, subtraction, multiplication or division. It is used by modern computer-based devices and computers because of easy implementation in digital electronic circuitry. ASCII text

ASCII (American Standard Code for Information Interchange) is a character encoding standard for electronic communication. ASCII codes represent text in computers. The standard ASCII character set uses 7 bits for each character. There are also several larger 8 bits character sets. These sets have 128 additional characters, which are used to represent non-English chars, graphics or mathematics symbols. Most of the modern character-encoding schemes are based on ASCII standard but they support a lot of additional characters. For instance, in UTF-8 (dominant encoding on the WWW) the first 128 Unicode code points are the ASCII characters. It means that any ASCII text is also a UTF-8 text.
